Karzai Softens One Demand, Presses Others in U.S. Talks

KABUL—President Hamid Karzai softened his insistence on postponing the crucial security deal with Washington until after Afghan presidential elections next spring, but persisted in demanding an unspecified delay until his other conditions are met, his spokesman said.
