KABUL—Large explosions followed by pitched gunbattles shook Kabul on Friday as the Taliban attacked the Afghan capital, the latest thrust in the insurgency’s annual spring offensive.
The heaviest fighting was in the Shahr-e-Naw neighborhood, close to the United Nations compound.
