Canada, U.S. Reach Tax Deal

OTTAWA—Ottawa and Washington Wednesday struck a deal on sharing tax information on U.S. citizens living in Canada, as part of a broader U.S. effort to crack down on tax evasion.
Canada, which had concerns about how the U.S. Treasury Department was trying to deter tax avoidance through legislative measures which might encroach on Canadian jurisdiction, won several exemptions to ensure its domestic privacy laws weren’t violated.
