European Aeronautic Defence & Space Co. on Monday said it would cut 5,800 jobs through 2016 in its military and space units and at its headquarters in response to reduced military spending.
The cuts come as part of a broader reorganization and rebranding of EADS as Airbus Group, the name of its successful commercial jet business. The three divisions will be Airbus, Airbus Defense and Space, and Airbus Helicopters.
