QUITO, Ecuador—This country’s two most populous cities, Quito and Guayaquil, were set to elect opposition mayors on Sunday in votes that President Rafael Correa called a setback for his Alianza Pais party.
Exit polls, which predicted the result, also showed that members of the ruling party were the likely winners in most other elections for local government officials.
