Australia’s treasurer on Wednesday shrugged off warnings that planned spending cuts in the government’s forthcoming budget will weigh on the sluggish economy, saying it was important to bring the budget back to a surplus.
“We want the economy to grow strongly. We are not going to do anything that will detract from the overall level of growth in the economy,” Joe Hockey told The Wall Street Journal in an interview….
