SANTIAGO, Chile—Troubled Chilean supermarket chain SMU SA on Monday appointed Álvaro Saieh, the chairman of its majority shareholder CorpGroup, as its president, the latest move to shore up investor confidence in the firm’s turnaround strategy.
SMU general manager Marcelo Gálvez said the appointment was approved at a shareholder meeting Monday.
