UNITED NATIONS—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu derided Iran’s contention that it isn’t seeking nuclear weapons, cataloging reasons why he says Iran is lying about its pursuit of the bomb, in an address to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday.
Iran’s President Hasan Rouhani said Iran has never been deceptive, yet was twice caught hiding its nuclear activities, Mr. Netanyahu said.
“But he says not to worry because it is a peaceful program,” he said. “Why would a country that only wants peaceful nuclear energy build underground hidden enrichment facilities?” the prime minister asked.
