Fonterra Apologizes for Milk-Powder Scare

The chief executive of New Zealand’s biggest dairy exporter, Fonterra Cooperative Group Ltd., apologized Monday for a food-safety scare involving harmful bacteria that prompted China to ban some of its products.
Fonterra Chief Executive Theo Spierings traveled to China immediately after the company publicly disclosed the problem on Saturday, and on Monday he offered “deep apologies.”
